Cork musicians have given us quite a few classic tunes over the years and the search to find the best one has just kicked up a gear.
Before Christmas, Cork City Libraries launched a competition to find the Rebel County’s favourite song and 84 were nominated.
An independent jury has since narrowed that down to a shortlist of 10, which are named below:

Going to My Hometown by Rory Gallagher

An Puc ar Buile by Seán Ó Sé
Safety Rope by Mick Flannery
Where’s me Jumper by The Sultans of Ping

Commenting on the contest in November, Senior Executive Librarian Patricia Looney said: “The objective is to encourage people to ponder, look back, reminisce… unearth stories and tales that contribute to the Cork of today. We want to hear of the tunes, songs and jingles that have moulded our character & define our individuality.”
Closing date for voting is Friday 25 January and you can cast your vote here.
An exclusive performance of the nominated songs will also take place in the Cork City Library on Monday, January 27 at 7.30pm.
