Rural Ireland is set to lose up to 80 post offices as well as 30 banks, the Irish Independent is reporting.
According to the paper, a Government report has recommended the closure of the post offices.
As well as that, Ulster Bank are set to announced closures to almost a quarter of their branches nationwide, mostly in rural areas. This will amount to approximately 30 branches.
An An Post spokeswoman feels that the closures are vital to the future of the organisation:
“This is not a short-term focus, but a solidly based long-term business that can thrive in the modern market and anticipate the future needs of our corporate and personal customers.”
