Be careful answering the phone to unknown numbers, as there are reports of a new scam doing the rounds.
People are getting calls starting with +231 prefix from Liberia around Ireland and they missed calls are believed to be part of a scam.
The Irish Examiner said the calls are part of a ‘Premium CallBack’ scam from the unknown numbers.
The public are posting to social media to warn others of the calls that are coming in at odd hours – be it during the night or in the middle of the day.
Just rejected a call from Liberia dial code +231.

It is being reported that anyone who calls the number back will be charged a premium rate for the phone call, even if you’re not on the phone for long.
If you get caught by the scam you could see a rise in your phone bill or run out of credit.
So it is probably for the best that you ignore the calls.
