A new snow-ice warning has been issued for the whole of Ireland, in place from 9pm tonight until midday tomorrow.

There will be scattered showers this evening, later turning wintry with a risk of snow accumulations up to 3mm.

Temperatures will also drop as low as -2 degrees, leading to widespread frost and icy patches on untreated roads.

Tomorrow morning the wintry showers will continue, especially in the west and north of the country.

It will be pretty cold too, with temperatures of 4 to 6 degrees.

The outlook for the weekend is “overall cold and unsettled, with some further wintry showers, frost and ice at times too”.

Wrap up warm folks!
