Ambr Eyewear has announced that they will provide free reading glasses to people over 60 who may be self-isolating during the Covid-19 pandemic.

As most of us are discovering already, reading is probably going to become a big part of our day-to-day for the next couple of weeks. So for many people, their reading glasses are going to become essential.

Writing on their Instagram stories, Ambr Eyewear described how they were going to do their bit to help:

“We’ve been thinking about how we can positively contribute to the current situation.

“Where we think we can help best is to help those over 60 who are at risk of self-isolation and lack of access to things they need.

“If you have a friend/neighbour/relative who might be in need of some reader glasses to get them through the next few weeks, we’re happy to provide them for free.”

They added, “No doubt reading, whether on screen or paper, is a big part of life right now. So let us know their situation through a DM and we’ll try our best to help them out.”

This is just one of the kind gestures we have witnessed today.

In Galway, cafes have come together to help feed medical staff, setting up a GoFund Me page to raise money for the cost of lunches.

Meanwhile, in Dublin, the kind gestures have been nothing short of amazing.

A restaurant in Rathfarnham announced that they would be delivering free meals to people over the age of 60 every day.

In the city centre, bags of sandwiches were left outside for homeless people.

A restaurant in Ranelagh said that they would be matching all drive-thru services fees and giving the money raised to ALONE, a charity dedicated to helping the elderly.
