Anyone who’s had an iPhone for longer than a year (if you’ve managed to not smash the screen then you GO GLEN COCO, fair fecks) will know that it seems as though once a new iPhone is released, your one starts to slow down.
While that’s probs just a coincidence, Apple HAS admitted that your phone slows down the older it gets.
Reuters reports that Apple has responded to a blog from an app company that published data that appeared to show slower performance in the Apple’s iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 models as they aged.
Apple confirmed that they have taken measures to reduce the phone’s capacity the older it gets in order to keep up with the ageing battery.
They said it’s a problem with lithium-based batteries and that it’s not just Apple who use these.
”Last year we released a feature for iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone SE to smooth out the instantaneous peaks only when needed to prevent the device from unexpectedly shutting down during these conditions,“ Apple said in an emailed statement to Reuters. ”We’ve now extended that feature to iPhone 7 with iOS 11.2, and plan to add support for other products in the future.”
iPhone users have complained of degrading battery life for years
My iPhone has been draining my battery like crazy lately, but just now at 30% it died completely. I rebooted and it’s at 44%. That’s never happened before. Anyone else having this issue?

The problem can be solved by replacing the phone’s battery, although Apple has faced criticism for making it difficult for users to replace batteries anywhere from but an Apple store.
