The Government will confirm timelines for the reopening of indoor service in pubs, the return of international travel and more in an announcement later this week.
The address to the nation is expected to take place on Friday and An Taoiseach Micheál Martin said last night that “we will, at the end of next week, make a comprehensive statement on the continued reopening of society and the economy, particularly in the area of travel, hospitality, areas of sport, entertainment and the arts during June and July.”
Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan has said that he expects foreign travel to resume in “July or early August or some such time and the benefit of that is it gives us time to see about the variants.”
Outdoor service in pubs and restaurants is already confirmed to resume on June 7, the same date that gyms, leisures centres and swimming pools will be permitted to reopen. A full rundown of the ongoing easing of restrictions can be found here.
