The former president bought the resort back in 2014.
Former US President Donald Trump is set to make a trip to Ireland today, just under a month after current US President Joe Biden completed his tour here.
Trump is said to be going on a private visit to his golf resort in Doonbeg, County Clare, following on from a trip he made to Scotland with his son Eric.
According to The Journal,
“Preparations were underway and security increased yesterday at Trump International Golf Links and Hotel just outside the town, although staff remained tight-lipped about the proposed visit.”
Trump last visited his Doonbeg resort during a trip to Ireland in 2019, when he was still President of the United States.
The Journal reports that this is Trump’s first trip abroad since he became the first former President to be faced with criminal charges – these charges did not prevent him from travelling.
