Irish Teen Has Raised Goal Money To Receive Cancer Treatment Abroad

It’s not often we get to write up a sweet, uplifting and lovely story – but today, thankfully, is a little different.

If you’ve been actively online this week, you’ll definitely have heard of the story of Shan Tynan

We reported on her story during the week, as she released this video online, pleading with watchers, Irish or otherwise, to hear her story and contribute ”even €1” to her enormous Texan cancer treatment bill of just under €600,000 on GoFundMe.

And guess what – just days later, this goal has been shared internationally, reached and has officially surpassed all expectations. All thanks to the power of the people!

She spoke on the Ryan Tubridy show yesterday about her absolute joy finding this out.

She then took to her personal Facebook page to thank all of those who helped her on her way:

She commented on her utter euphoria and gratitude to those who showed her so much love:

“The last 38 hours has been a place of love and the people of Ireland have truly came together to help me get better and for that I’m truly thankful. There has been few haters but millions of lovers and each person showing positivity helps us through each day and we are truly over the moon.”

”The good always outshines the bad and I now have a true chance at beating this and it is all down to all who shared, commented and donated. I am so excited for my little brother and sister to come home from school to hear that I have made enough to go to Texas.”

According to GoFundMe, Shauntelle’s campaign is the largest Irish campaign of its kind to ever grace the crowd-funding platform.

If you too want to donate to Shauntelle’s treatment costs click, you can do so right here.
