Four Irish People Confirmed Among The Injured In Barcelona Terror Attack

Four Irish people are among the injured in Barcelona following yesterday’s terrorist attack, according to reports. 

13 people were killed when a van ploughed into pedestrians in La Rambla in Barcelona city centre shortly after 5pm. 

Another estimated 100 were injured during the horrifying attack, four of whom are believed to be an Irish family on holidays, Independent.ie reports. 

The van swerved back and fourth hitting pedestrians once it entered the La Rambla promenade before the driver fled the scene. 

Police confirmed that the incident was a terror attack. Two people were arrested shortly afterwards and a third person was apparently shot by police in a shoot out in connection with the attack. 

Early this morning a second attack was attempted in the seaside town of Cambrils when five attackers wearing suicide belts struck civilians with a car. 

Seven people were injured before police shot dead the five attackers.
