Get the factor 50 out, there’s a heatwave set to hit Ireland this week

Fiona Frawley

Good news for anyone with a staycation booked this week!

Sure you wouldn’t need to be jetting off at all, as temperatures are set to hit up to 25 degrees in Ireland over the weekend. Met Éireann have forecast that temperatures will hit the mid-twenties as high pressure builds throughout the week.

For the start of the week we can expect patches of drizzle but with warm temperatures increasing as the days go on. Mist and patches of fog can be expected tomorrow evening, with highest temperatures set to reach 18 to 22 degrees.

Wednesday is set to be mostly dry, however patches of light rain and clouds may affect western coastal counties.

Thursday will start off cloudy with drizzle along Atlantic coasts and across Ulster, but highest temperatures are set to reach 18-23 degrees.

From Friday, rain may affect some coastal regions, but highest temperatures of 20-25 degrees are forecast, with warmest conditions in the southwest of the country.

The weekend itself is predicted to be very warm with highest temperatures in the mid twenties. It will be mostly dry with sunny spells, however some pesky rain showers may prevail.
