Health Trust Apologises For Mortuary Mix Up Which Saw Irish Family Receive The Wrong Body

The Western Trust has apologised to an Irish family after a mortuary mix up saw them receive the wrong body, according to reports. 

The alleged mistake is said to have happened at the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh. 

The Sunday World reports that the body of the deceased was removed to another premises before the mistake was spotted. 

The Western Trust has expressed “sincere apologies”. 

A spokesman for the Western Trust said: “The Trust has contacted the family concerned to express its sincere apologies.

“We are unable to comment further until the investigation has been completed in the interest of ensuring that all of the circumstances have been thoroughly examined.”

According to the publication, the family has sought legal advice as they await results of a hospital investigation.
