Helen McEntee becomes first woman in State history to announce pregnancy while in Cabinet

Justice Minister Helen McEntee has become the first woman in the history of the State to announce that she is pregnant while in Cabinet.

The 34-year-old TD shared the news on her Instagram page this morning, along with the caption: ‘It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas….
Last Christmas as a duo though.’

Originally from Navan in Co. Meath, McEntee has been married to her husband Paul Hickey since 2017. She has previously served as Minister of State for Mental Health and Older People and Minister of State for European Affairs. Frances Fitzgerald, one of McEntee’s predecessors as Minister for Justice, was among the first to congratulate the couple, writing: ‘Congratulations Helen and Paul, wonderful news!’

McEntee will become the first woman in State history to welcome a new baby while a member of the Government.
