Tonight, Dundalk FC face one of the biggest games in their history when they take on Arsenal in a Europa League Group B clash at the Emirates Stadium in London.
Given the Premier League club’s global fanbase, Dundalk will be playing in front of a massive international TV audience which will dwarf the numbers that usually watch their League of Ireland games. By the time you read this, the game could be over and The Lilywhites could have pulled off a massive shock but it’s fair to say that ahead of kick-off, The Gunners are definitely favourites for this one.
Which is why Dundalk could do with all the support they can get and it thankfully it seems they have a new fan in the form of legendary Arsenal striker Theirry Henry. The Frenchman is so legendary in North London, in fact, that a statue was placed outside the stadium in 2011 to mark his achievements at the club.
Usually a spot for Arsenal supporters to pose for a snap, the bust is looking a bit more Irish today after someone decked Thierry out in a Dundalk scarf, hat and, the pièce de résistance, a mocked-up can of Harp, a delicacy which is synonymous with the Co. Louth town.
The below post by Twitter user @adyraff4 has gained plenty of traction since it was posted on Wednesday night and you can check out Henry in all his Dundalk glory below…

As well as that, YouTube channel Arsenal fan reviews posted that he ‘saw a guy on a bike putting up the stuff’ and you can catch a glimpse at the end of the below video…
For reasons we don’t like talking about, Thierry Henry will never be too popular in Ireland but if he manages to bring Dundalk some luck tonight some of their fans could almost forgive him. Plus, it’s great to see a can in his hand rather than a ball, right?
Arsenal v Dundalk kicks off at 8pm tonight and you can watch the action unfold on Virgin Media Two.
