WATCH: Sheffield United’s ‘Sunday Game’ GAA video is just perfect

James Fenton

Ireland is well-represented in the Sheffield United dressing room but we’re starting to suspect that some members of their social team also hail from this side of the Irish Sea.

Ireland’s John Egan, Enda Stevens and David McGoldrick are regular starters for the Premier League side and it’s Egan who is the subject of the club’s latest social media video. The Cork-born defender, who is the son of legendary Kerry Gaelic footballer John Egan Senior, has previously credited a crucial goal for The Blades to his GAA background. Last weekend at Anfield, he displayed some more of the skills that clearly run in the family.

In the clip posted by Sheffield United yesterday, the ball goes out of play during the game against Liverpool before Egan scoops it up and gives it an old-fashioned GAA boot down the field. Sounds pretty run of the mill but when it’s all set to the backdrop of The Sunday Game theme tune then it’s sure to raise a smile.

Have a look at the clip below before spending the rest of the day trying to get that iconic tune out of your head…
