Here’s How Much The Average Irish Couple Spends On An Engagement Ring

How much money you spend on an engagement ring differs greatly depending on who you ask – should it still be three months salary or are couples happy enough to go down the budget bling route?

The Vow.ie carried out a poll asking How much should you spend on an engagement ring?

And the results are surprising…

41% (2,577) of the 6,228 people who voted in the poll said that you should only pay what you can easily afford, while 21% believe that an engagement ring should cost one month’s salary.

With the latest CSO statistics revealing that the average weekly wages in Ireland are €722.65 that means that people are paying on average €2,890.60 for a ring.

16% of those surveyed felt that a ring should cost the traditional three month’s wages (yikes!), while 6% think it should cost less than one full month’s wage.

And a surprising 8% said that we should do away with the ring altogether, and keep the cash for something else!
