Ireland’s Four Richest Counties Have Been Revealed

James Fenton

So that’s where they’ve been hiding it…

The four richest counties in Ireland have been revealed. The data released by the Central Statistic Office show that only Dublin, Limerick, Kildare and Cork (in that order) have a disposable income per person greater than the State’s average.

The figures relate to the year 2014 and described disposable income as ‘primary income plus social welfare payments minus taxes and social insurance contributions’.

The nationwide average was €19,178 while the four aforementioned counties’ disposable income amounted to:

Dublin: €21,963

Limerick: €20,395

Kildare: €19,234

Cork: €19,385

At the other end of the scale, Donegal had the lowest rate of disposable income (€15,061) behind Roscommon (€16,281), Monaghan (€16,395) and Offaly (€16,460).

We know where we’re moving to.
