Irish Shoppers Issued Urgent Warning About Scam Which Is Back For A Second Time

Darragh Berry

This is back at the second time of asking. It claimed too many victims the first time around so don’t get caught out.

The Irish Independent is reporting that Irish shopping chain SuperValu has told members of the public not to bother with a potential scam text message that is being sent around.

The message leads people to believe that they have won a substantial amount of cash in shopping vouchers and can access it if they complete a survey.

In the message, they are encouraged to click on a link which will bring them to the survey which is more than likely a link that will leave you vulnerable and at risk of being hacked.

The message reads; “Congratulations! Jimboireland. You have been privileged to have this rare chance to get €750 Supervalu gift card! Just complete a quick survey to find out how to win.”

In a statement this evening, SuperValu said that: “This is not a legitimate competition and we advise that members of the public do not interact with it,” before adding that it has all the characteristics to be a “a potential phishing scam”.

Regardless, it has not been issued by SuperValu.

This is the second time that the company have had to warn customers about this type of scam. In September, a similar message went around on social media and via text message claiming to be from the company also.
