It Turns Out People Outside Ireland Really Don’t Know Where Ireland Is

clodagh

Though we are a small nation, we are mighty.

We may be hidden in the corner of Europe, but our reputation goes much further than that.

Or so we thought…

It appears that not everyone is so clear on where Ireland is.

According to the Irish Mirror, travel insurance company GoCompare tested the geographical knowledge of people from the UK and the USA.

Of 1,000 people who took part, the survey found that one in ten UK people could pinpoint Ireland on a map.

That’s only 100 people. Out of 1,000.

4% of people from the UK picked Denmark as Ireland, 3% picked UK as Ireland – y’know, their own country – and 2% picked Iceland.

Americans who took part in the test did not do much better, with only, on average, getting 49.6% of the answers correct.

On average, the UK got 65% of the answers right.

Come on lads, you can do better than this.
