The Tribesmen are thriving in hurling at the moment. They are current All-Ireland champions and scooped up the Leinster Championship on Sunday following a convincing win over Kilkenny – they led them by 12 points at one stage.
The game went to a replay after a draw the week before and the Galway players were visibly ecstatic at the final whistle.
After embraces with teammates on the pitch, Canning came across one of hurling’s biggest fans.
Jennifer Malone loves hurling, adores it and if you love hurling, you’re going to be a huge admirer of Joe Canning, possibly the greatest player in the game at the moment and one of the best to ever grace the field of play.
Canning’s number 11 shirt is famous around the country, similar to the number 7 Manchester United shirt which was worn by Beckham, Cantona, Ronaldo et al, Canning has made the number his own.
But, on Sunday he parted with it to give to Jennifer who was proud as punch after.
A fantastic game of hurling today in Thurles, and thank you @JoeyCan88 For giving Jennifer your Jersey after the game, she is delighted and showed it to everyone on the way out pic.twitter.com/Cj8NG8Xqsp

“She is delighted and showed it to everyone on the way out.”
You can look but you can’t touch people. That shirt is Jennifer’s now and it’s probably being kept somewhere safe and top secret. That’s what we’d do if we got it anyway.
