Temperatures Drop To -3 This Week As Experts Warn Of “Widespread Frost And Ice”

January is in full swing now folks and the weather is taking a very similar turn to that of this time last year too.

Met Eireann is saying that temperatures will drop to -1 degrees this week and that the country can expect “widespread frost” over the next few nights.

They say that the weather will turn “more cold and unsettled” this week and that people can expect wintry conditions.

“A cold front will sweep southeastwards across Ireland on Tuesday night bringing a short spell of rain to most areas.”

By Wednesday, showers will be frequent in the west and north and some of the showers will be heavy with hail and the slight risk of thunder.

They will then become isolated on Wednesday night with “widespread frost developing by dawn with the risk of ice” and it will go as low as -3 degrees in some places.

Thursday night will be frosty also with temperatures reaching as low as -1 degrees with the western half of the country getting the brunt of it.
