Miss Ireland Ivanna McMahon was a tour guide for the weekend

Current Miss Ireland and qualified doctor, Ivanna McMahon, took a break from her busy schedule to show Miss Northern Ireland, Miss Scotland and Miss England around the country at the weekend.

The four have become close friends but will soon compete against each other for the title of Miss World, which will be held in May in the United Arab Emirates.

The besties took an open-top bus tour of Dublin and they visited Emerald Park in Meath last weekend.

They also had afternoon tea at Dublin’s Morrison hotel, had a peek into Trinity College and went to the Irish Whiskey Museum on Grafton Street.

Ivanna who is from Ennis in County Clare said: “Going to the Miss World finals won’t feel lonely as I’ll have my pals with me. I’m really looking forward to it.”

“I think it’s about time a redhead won Miss World”

Miss Northern Ireland, Daria Gapska said: “We are happily focused on the competition and have lots going on.

“I’d love to win the Miss World crown for Northern Ireland.

“We are very proud that we recently brought home an Oscar for An Irish Goodbye so it would be great for the celebrations to continue.”

Although the beauty queens are very different, they’re all very excited to be competing in the Miss World competition and all have special reasons why they’d like to win.

Miss England, Jessica Gagen who’s an aerospace engineer said: “I think it’s about time a redhead won Miss World.

“A redhead has never won the competition. I hope I’m the first to do it.

“People think I’m Irish because of my red hair. I’m from Liverpool so I probably do have some Irish blood in me. This is my first time here but it won’t be my last.”

Ivanna will be hoping to take the crown home for Ireland, 20 years after Rosanna Davison won Miss World in 2003.

The 71st Miss World competition will take place in the United Arab Emirates in May, with the exact location to be confirmed.
