We can expect a lot less Christmas shopping to be done in four years time as FIFA has confirmed that the 2022 World Cup will take place from November 21 to December 18.
The tournament is set to be hosted in Qatar and has been moved to the winter due to soaring summer temperatures in the country.
The news is sure to have a detrimental affect on most European club leagues during the 2022/2023 season and a lot of people have come out to criticise the news online.
FIFA’s 2022 World Cup in Qatar will take place between November 21st and December 18th. The World Cup has always been a welcomed spectacle during a long football free summer, rather than an interruption of the football season. Darn shame we have to wait 8 years.

At least for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, we can adapt Chris Rea – Driving Home for Christmas to “It’s Coming Home for Christmas”

Sad that this is the last World Cup we’ll enjoy seeing for some time. Qatar 2022 in the winter will be a write off. No BBQs and summer vibes. Dark evenings, shite teams, no one with any holiday left, Christmas songs during the ad breaks. Fuck off. @FIFAcom

Just realised that this is the last good World Cup. 2022 is a winter world cup in Qatar and then it becomes a 48 team tournament from 2026.

Next proper World Cup in 8 years then…
