Roughly 10,000 Eir Customers Have No Internet Or Phone Connection After The Storm

Shirleydonlon

After a night of strong winds, heavy snow showers and blizzards, up to 10,000 Eir customers have been left with no phone and internet connection.

This is as a result of damaged poles, cables and mast infrastructure, which Eir has said will take time to fix due to snow on the roads which has made some areas impassable today.

The Independent reported that most of those left without connections are customers in different parts of Limerick, including the areas of Hospital, Pallasgreen, Murroe, Croom and Kilfinane

The company is urging customers to log reports of faults using the Eir website, or if you are without internet you can call 1901.

Meanwhile, ESB Networks has said that 24,000 homes and business remain without electricity nationally.

A status-red weather warning is due to remain in place until 6pm this evening, with temperatures expected to drop to as low as -3 degrees overnight.
