Snow Is Expected To Hit Parts Of Ireland This Week

AmyBell

It could be a white weekend as snow is expected to fall across parts of Ireland tomorrow and Thursday.

While today will be quite dull and mild, temperatures are set to drop by 10 degrees tomorrow and will hit zero degrees by tomorrow night.

Met Eireann have said that the dramatic change in temperature is due to an area of low pressure called a “polar low” that will spread over the country from tomorrow.

They reported on their website that, “Wednesday night will turn cold everywhere as temperatures fall to near freezing in the early part of the night, lowest overnight temperatures zero to plus 3 degrees, coldest in the north.

“The winds will become cyclonic variable in the north as an area of low pressure, called a “polar low”, tracks over or near the north of the country. There will be showers too, likely to be heavy and falling as snow over the hills and mountains.”

Thursday will be another cold day with temperatures dropping as low as -2 come nightfall and wintry showers with snow is likely to appear on the Wicklow Mountains.

So this could be the sign that there may be a white wintry Christmas on the way!
