Every Game Of The 2019 Women’s World Cup Will Be Live On Irish TV

James Fenton

It’s now just under two months until the 2019 Women’s World Cup gets underway in France and it has been announced today that Irish fans won’t miss a minute.

RTÉ and TG4 have confirmed that between them they will broadcast every single game of the quadrennial showpiece this summer.

The national broadcaster will show 23 matches on RTÉ 2 and RTÉ Player. These include three of the quarter-finals, one semi-final and the final, which takes place on Sunday July 7. For their part, TG4 will air a total of 29 matches including the opening match, one quarter-final, one semi-final, the third-place play-off and highlights of the final.

With the rise of the women’s game in recent years, this summer’s tournament is set to be the most high-profile since the World Cup was first played in 1991.

USA will be among the favourites to defend the crown they won in Canada in 2015 but stiff competition will be provided by host nation France as well as the likes of England, Germany and Japan.

It all gets underway on Friday June 7 when France take on South Korea at the Parc des Princes in Paris.
