Met Éireann has extended the status-red snow and ice warning until Saturday morning in several areas in Leinster.
The warning was issued at around 3:45pm and will stay in effect until 9am tomorrow morning.
Counties that will be affected by the warning extension are Dublin, Meath, Wexford, Wicklow and Kildare.
The warning states: “Snow accumulations continuing to increase significantly due to further heavy falls of snow.”
Meanwhile, Gardaí and AA Roadwatch are advising people to avoid making journeys unless they are necessary, despite the warning to stay inside being lifted.
Motorists are being encouraged to avoid any non-essential travel until the Status Red warning has been lifted. However, even into the weekend, additional care will be needed. https://t.co/TtXB3WPGnx
