Met Éireann have issued a warning for Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
To be honest, after our piece on the weather this week, and then the weather warning was subsequently announced, we expected it to be dealing with heavy rain. Especially considering Met Éireann had already warned that the rain was likely to bring flooding along with it.
However, the status yellow wind warning is for some very strong winds hitting the lower half of the country, but that it too will bring with it the risk of flooding.
As per the official status yellow warning, which has been issued to Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford:
“Southerly winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65 km/h with gusts of up to 100 km/h. There will be a risk of coastal flooding.”
The warning comes into effect from 9pm on Tuesday night until 9am on Wednesday morning.
Additionally, the UK Met Office have issued a status yellow wind warning for Antrim and Down, which is expected to bring disruption to travel and utilities.
