Batten down the hatches: Storm Eleanor is on her way.
Met Eireann has updated its Status Orange weather warning to include a wind warning for Munster, Leinster and south Galway from this afternoon.
It says that Storm Eleanor will move in off the Atlantic later this afternoon and will move very quickly across the country this evening with southwest to west winds of mean speeds 65 to 80 km/h, gusting to 110 to 130 km/h. expected.
There will be very high seas along Atlantic coasts, with a risk of coastal flooding also and “damaging gusts”.
The storm will peak from 4pm until 9pm across the country
