Stormy weather to continue over the weekend and into next week

Rory Cashin

The stormy conditions will bring further risks of flooding to parts of the country this weekend.

While parts of the country are still under a status yellow rain warning until Friday morning, Met Eireann have issued their forecast for the rest of the weekend, and let us just say… you’re better off staying in.

The overall summary states that the weather will be very unsettled, with possibly stormy conditions at times over the weekend and into the early days of next week, with further rain leading to the risk of flooding.

Friday night will see rain and wind hitting the entire country, and Saturday is described as follows:

“A wet and possibly stormy day on Saturday with widespread and often heavy rain continuing through the day. The rain will begin to clear northwards through the evening followed by scattered showers and clear spells.”

Saturday night will bring more rain and wind for the entire country, before Sunday starts relatively dry for most of country:

“Rain will clear the northeast early on Sunday with scattered outbreaks of rain remaining, becoming heavy and more persistent in southern areas once again during the afternoon.”

Once again, the night will bring rain and wind to all of Ireland.

Monday and Tuesday are both forecast to be cool and unsettled, with heavy showers and moderate winds.
