Ophelia caused mass destruction, Dylan blew in and out without much chaos and Eleanor gave us a right auld scare.
But what names have been given to the storms Ireland is set to welcome for the rest of 2018? Back in September, Met Éireann released a list of the storm names for 2017/2018 and we’ve already seen six of them come and go.
Next up is Storm Fionn which will be followed by:
– Georgina
– Hector
– Iona
– James
– Karen
– Larry
– Maeve
– Niall
– Octavia
– Paul
– Rebecca
– Simon
– Tali
– Victor
-Winifred
Each storm alternates by gender and they are listed in alphabetical order. The names are chosen jointly by Met Éireann and the Met Office in the U.K. The letters Q,U,X,Y and Z are always omitted so hard luck Ursula, Xavier and Zach.
Know anyone who’s having a storm named after them this year? Let them know in the comments.
