If you haven’t yet heard of the ledge that is Harry McCann yet, then we guarantee you’ll be hearing his name everywhere very very soon.
The Kildare native is one of twenty finalists in the JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World of 2017, a program that honours ten outstanding young people under the age of 40 each year.
These individuals “exemplify the spirit of the JCI Mission and provide extraordinary service to their communities.
“Whether through service, innovation, determination or revolutionary thinking, these young active citizens create positive impacts on a local and global level.”
So, why is Harry so impressive?!
In 2013 when Harry was just 15 years old he founded his first business, Kid Tech. Yep, 15.
He then went on to teach over eight hundred kids to code all around Ireland, and received the support and backing of Blackberry, Irish entrepreneur, Norah Casey, and British Actor Stephen Fry, and May of 2014 went on to found the first Digital Youth Council in the World, which he’s currently Director of.
As director, he works with governments and industry leaders to ensure that youth are involved in influencing the future of the STEM sector both in Ireland and Europe. Since 2015 he has worked with the most influential young people in STEM across Ireland to influence policy and ensure the next generation’s success as workers in the STEM industry.
He is also an Executive Director for an Irish Enterprise and an advisor to the Irish Government on several subjects including data protection. Phew.
The result depends on a public vote, so show the lad some support here.
