Jen

New laws will ban ticket touting and stop people from re-selling tickets at inflated prices.

The proposed legislation would ban the above-face value resale of tickets for venues with a capacity of 1,000 and over.

According to Newstalk, it would also ban bot software used to buy large numbers of tickets in one go.

The ban would also stop the unauthorised transfer and use of tickets for matches and official events in Ireland the 2020 Euros as per the commitment given to UEFA.

To implement these plans, the Government has said it will support and amend the ‘Prohibition of Above-Cost Ticket Touting Bill’ which was introduced by Deputy Noel Rock and Deputy Stephen Donnelly.

Fine Gael TD Noel Rock, who started the push for this legislation described it as “ambitious and sensible”.

He added he has “no doubt that for sports and music fans, this legislation will be a game changer.”

It will be interesting to see how this will be put in place.
