WATCH: Leo Varadkar Made No Secret Of Who He’s Supporting In England Vs Belgium Tonight

James Fenton

The World Cup group stage comes to an end tonight as England and Belgium meet to decide who will finish top of Group G.

A lot of England fans are offering the theory that it would actually be more beneficial to finish second in the group as this would see them avoid a potentially perilous quarter-final with Brazil. Of course, they still have to get past their round of sixteen game but it wouldn’t be like English football fans to get ahead of themselves.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar referenced the unusual scenario of both teams possibly preferring to lose when quizzed about the match by RTÉ. Our Dear Leader is currently over in Brussels so it’s no surprise that said he’ll be supporting the Red Devils ahead of our near neighbours.

That should keep the Belgians and the Irish happy. You can see if Leo gets his wish when England v Belgium airs tonight at 7pm this evening on RTÉ 2.
