We’ll take one of everything on the menu.
The YesChef Awards took place in Dundalk this week and, as well as revealing the best hotel restaurant in Ireland, the best street food restaurant in the country was named as Unbeetable Food in Waterford.
The food truck, which is located in Pickardstown service station in Tramore, offers a wide range of freshly cooked street food, catering to meat eating, vegan and gluten free customers alike.
Street food in Ireland has enjoyed a boom over recent years, with food trucks and pop-ups enjoying huge success throughout the country, taking inspiration from global cuisines.
Unbeetable Food, which opened up in 2019, also won best Street Food of the year and was nominated for Best Healthy Takeaway at this year’s Takeaway Awards in February.
Also competing in the category was 10 Nine Burger in Wexford and Johnny’s Ranch in Donegal.

“We got in before food trucks became so popular,” manager and chef Jenny Donoghue told The Irish Times.
“It’s a small menu, a small place, and a small staff. Everything is made fresh. We don’t use deep fryers or microwaves. Everything moves and everything sells. We do dairy-free and gluten-free too.”
Shane Smith, Managing Director of NI Media who run the awards said, “The restaurants here tonight represent the diversity of the industry on the island and showcase the commitment to delivering the highest standards in Irish Hospitality.
“We are the only programme on the island who inspect every entrant and we would like to thank our panel of dedicated researchers who travel the country visiting each venue.”
