For many of us, a day at work consists of eight or more hours plonked at a desk.
And while you might think that sitting down all day long isn't doing your body any good whatsoever, it turns out that all is not bad.
According to Cosmopolitan, our bodies still do use energy even when just sitting down all day long.
ShakeThatWeight carried out some research and discovered that we burn quite a lot of calories each day at the office without even realising it.
The research showed that, based on the average weight of someone just over 11 stone, you burn around 102 calories for every hour you're sitting at your desk.
This means that if you work a 9-5 job, you can expect to burn around 714 calories, if you exclude your hour long lunch break.
This means we can eat as many donuts as we want, right?
Unfortunately, although this is good news for anyone who is constantly paranoid that they're not getting any exercise in, it obviously doesn't mean you can throw your new healthy eating plan out the window.
Healthy eating and a balanced diet is always recommended, but this is still nice to know.
