We've gotten over Christmas and now it's time to enjoy the annual January tradition of being broke and miserable. At least the weather is mild enough, we hear you shout. Well, not for long.

After a decent festive season weather-wise, Met Éireann is predicting a significant drop in temperatures for the remainder of this week. Lows of minus one are expected on both Thursday and Friday night with frost expected to form on most mornings.

Things are expected to pick up again by the weekend with top temperatures of five to nine degrees on Saturday along with some light drizzle.

Early indications suggest that the early part of next week will see drier than normal conditions but rain is likely in the north and northwest.

Stick the hot water bottle on for the next few nights, so. The full forecast for the coming days can be found here.
