Sligonians, did you guess the winners before even opening the article?

Anyone who’s visited Flipside in Sligo Town probably won’t be surprised to hear they scooped up the grand title of Ireland’s Best Burger ahead of National Burger Day tomorrow, 12th August. I mean look at these babies, in all fairness.

Kepak, the sponsors of National Burger Day just announced the result earlier this afternoon, which will no doubt provide another boost to the already busy burger spot. Flipside successfully adjusted during a string of lockdowns with a stellar takeaway service and recently enjoyed a return to indoor dining, to the delight of Sligo foodies.

Speaking after the announcement, co-owner Paul Brennan said

We are absolutely delighted to have won Best Burger at the National Burger Day awards and very grateful to our customers for all their support. It has been a tough period for hospitality, with so much turbulence and uncertainty in our industry, so this award means a huge amount to us. Having just reopened our doors as a dine-in restaurant following 18 months operating as a takeaway, we are delighted to have now put Sligo firmly on the national burger map. Winning this accolade is a rewarding public acknowledgement of our hard work and a big boost for our small but brilliant team.

If you haven’t yet hit up Flipside, this is your sign to. As well as award winning burgers they’ve got a tasty selection of loaded fries, wings, sundaes for dessert and a gorge array of vegetarian and vegan options. No better spot to treat yourself at!
