On what is a mammoth weekend for sport, Katie Taylor will bid to become a two-weight world champion.

Taylor moves up a weight class to challenge Christina Linardatou at the Manchester Arena on Saturday night.

The Bray boxer, who is undefeated in her professional career, became the undisputed lightweight champion in June, when she claimed a majority decision over Delfine Persoon.

Taylor can further cement herself in the annals of Irish sport if she is successful against Linardatou this weekend.

When is it on?

Taylor vs. Linardatou takes place on Saturday, 2 November and the ring walk for the main event is scheduled to take place between 9.30pm and 10pm.

Who is Christina Linardatou?

Linardatou is a Greek fighter with a professional record of 12-1, with her only career loss coming against Taylor’s recent foe, Delfine Persoon.

Linardatou won the WBO junior-welterweight title in March and defended it successfully against Deanha Hobbs in June.

Saturday night will be Linardatou’s second title defence.
