Autumn is well and truly underway but that doesn’t mean you can’t fit in one last little holiday. In fact, we might just need it to help us get over these end of summer blues.
Airlines including Norwegian and Aer Lingus have just announced their autumn sales, so why not have a look at our list of ideal destinations to visit before 2018 is out…
Marrakesh, Morocco
With average highs of 20°C even in December, it’s the perfect place to visit for some much-needed winter sun. Unreal sights like the Majorelle Garden and Bahia Palace mean you won’t be stuck for things to do here – although lazing by the pool all day is definitely equally as appealing.
Boston, USA
They say Boston is at its most beautiful in the fall and we think you’ll absolutely agree when you take a stroll through down to Commonwealth Avenue in the Back Bay. And of course, it’s the perfect spot to do some pre-Christmas shopping.
Positano, Italy
We’re not sure about you, but Positano has been taking up a whole lot of space on our Instagram feeds this year – and for good reason. The Amalfi Coast is absolutely gorgeous year-round and on average it’s still a balmy 25°C in October. Okay, it’s technically not a city break, but who wouldn’t want to add this one to their bucket list?
Lisbon, Portugal
It’s one of those reliable city breaks where you’ll always have a good time and get really good value for your money. Plus, the view from the top of São Jorge Castle overlooking the city is absolutely gorge – and the endless cool bars and restaurants mean it’s basically a foodie lover’s dream.
New York, USA
If you’re thinking about doing a Christmas shopping trip to the Big Apple, you’re in luck because Norwegian’s autumn sale currently has flights to NYC for a bargain €99 each way. Just make sure you add a visit to the rooftop at Le Bain to your to-do list.
Krakow, Poland
The city is filled with charming medieval buildings and more culture than you can shake a stick at. The historic district of Kazimierz has loads of cool vintage stores, galleries and cocktail bars that will guarantee a fun-filled weekend.
Munich, Germany
It’s the home of the Oktoberfest but the beautiful city makes for a fun weekend break any time of year thanks to its gorgeous parks (heya, English Garden) and great shopping. If you’ve got a day to spare, definitely take a day trip out to Neuschwanstein Castle a couple of hours’ drive out of the city. It’s literally straight out of a Disney film – it served as the inspiration for Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Valletta, Malta
Stay in the beautiful capital while still having the whole island on your doorstep – you can basically drive from here to anywhere else in just over an hour. Just make sure you fit in a visit to the unbelievably Instagrammable Blue Lagoon – or if it’s out of season, the seaside town of St Julian’s is just as fab.
