Does a trip somewhere count if you don’t insta-story it?

We all know that one of the main reasons why travel anywhere is so we can share our trip on Instagram, not only to show off our exceptional photography skills, but also to spur on pure, unbridled jealousy from strangers and loved ones alike.

Ireland is in no way lacking in locations that are sure to make Instagram users physically vibrate out of envy, and the 2023 ceremony for the Travel2ireland Awards whittled that visually impressive list down to just five nominees. The four runner-ups are:

  • Giant’s Causeway in Antrim
  • Skellig Michael in Kerry
  • Ring of Kerry in Kerry
  • Achill Island in Mayo

But the overall winner was… (drum roll please)… the Cliffs of Moher in Clare.

Upon news of the win, Geraldine Enright, the director of the Cliffs of Moher Experience, had the following to say:

“We are honoured to be listed amongst the overall winners of this national travel award scheme. We are particularly delighted to have been named winner of the Most Instagrammable Destination category of the competition when one considers the abundance of incredibly scenic locations throughout Ireland and the wealth of visitor attractions that continue to draw huge numbers of international visitors.”
