These Are The 8 Most Unusual Airbnbs You Can Rent In Ireland

Sarah

Surely we can’t be the only ones who spend every spare evening scrolling through all the lustworthy listings on Airbnb and planning our dream getaway? (Please don’t say it’s only us)

You might think of going for a once-in-a-lifetime weekend away abroad, but Ireland has SO many unique homes that you’d never in your wildest dreams imagine even existing on this little isle.

From medieval castles to fairytale fishing cabins, you won’t need to travel too far to experience a truly unique getaway.

1. Pops Dream Clare

This fishing cabin is like something from a dream. It’s on the shores of Lough Derg and it comes in at less than €75 a night.

Perfect for long nights sitting on the balcony with the BBQ, a bottle of wine and bae.

2. Blackwater Castle

“Become Lord or Lady of your own Medieval Castle with friends and family” – eh YES PLEASE.

This insane castle in Cork may seem pricey (€2,500), but it sleeps 25 people, so yknow, bargain. It has its own private bar, and a 15th century tower.

3. Cuckoo Wood Hexagon

This hexagon hut is situated on its own on land that’s half orchard, half woodland, just five Km from Westport.

We’re in LOVE with this beautiful little tree house that you can rent for as little as €80 a night.

4. James Joyce’s Childhood Home

For €150 a night, you can immerse yourself in this literary dream house in Blackrock where James Joyce himself lived when he wrote his first published work.

The house is gorgeous, with restored period features and true luxury highlights.

5. Conroy’s Old Bar

Can you get any better than a stay in a self-catering pub?!

A stay in this traditionally village bar near Lough Derg is certainly unique, and although it doesn’t have an alcohol license you can bring in your own booze and play bartender for €100 a night.

6. An Teach Cloiche

We never even imagined that it was possible to stay in a 19th century former bank, but yep, you can and it’s sooo slick.

This stone building is in Tipperary and sleeps 12 for €350 a night, so it’s ideal for a big gang of mates looking for something a but different. Very cool.

7. Martello Tower Sutton

With breathtaking views of Dublin Bay, this round tower was built in 1804 and has serious Ulysses vibes. You could legit pretend you’re king of the castle here.

Its got 10ft thick walls, a balcony around the entire building and a private staircase to the beach – the dream.

8. Charming Barge on Royal Canal

O.M.G this is real-life Rosie and Jim and we actually can’t deal with how adorable this little boat house is.

Picture yourself waking up here in the morning and looking down the Maynooth canal before having coffee on deck. At €120 a night this is so adorable.
