Call off the search, disable the Google updates and stop scrawling through the property section of the local paper – we’ve found our dream house.
Mermaid Isle in Kerry is a six-bedroom beauty the likes of which we never knew existed in Ireland.
The house is made up of an old cottage and newer build that have been perfectly combined into one, and comes with 25+ oceanfront acres, half a private island, over 4000ft. of shoreline, two hot-tubs, boat launches and moorings, just off
the famed Ring of Kerry.
Basically, this is heaven.
Local legends speak of Mermaids living in the private bay, sheltered
between the island, Illaundrane, and Mermaid Isle’s mainland, dolphins patrol its endless tidepools, and contented seals bask on the rocks.
Apparently it’s not unusual to be greeted in the morning by a playful otter scampering down to the sea past one of the two California hot-tubs perched just
above the sea.
The house is built in the style of a medieval post & beam barn, fitted with centuries-old windows and doors, and the ancient fisherman’s cottage attatched has been refurbed to the highest level.
Oh, and did we mention the TWO hot tubs? That’s one for each house, yo’.
Fancy features inside include doors salavaged from old churches, and antique stained glass.
Now all we need is a mere €1.9m to make it ours…
