This Underrated Christmas Market Is The Most Magical Thing To Do This Winter

Sarah

Grab a pretzel and get ready to glug down some mulled wine, because the most wonderful time of the year is almost upon us and that can only mean one thing: Christmas Markets.

Lights twinkling like a scene from The Nutcracker come to life, Christmas Markets transport you into a world where decorations are made of candy, ice-skating is actually good fun, and eating an entire footlong Bratwurst isn’t a weird thing to do.

But with so much choice all across Europe, it’s seriously difficult to decide which famous market to visit. Should you go to Frankfurt, or Vienna? How about Cologne?

We’ll tell you where, and you won’t believe it: Manchester.

Here’s why Manchester Christmas Market is the best…

With more than 300 beautifully festooned stalls and chalets spread across the city centre, the Christmas Markets are free and easy to get to, with a market trail that winds through the city, in and around various Yuletide treats.

They’re fast becoming one of the main reasons for people to visit Manchester and they’re now being recognised on a global scale.

There’s more than 10 spaces around the city where the Christmas Markets are in full swing, and each has its own charm about it.

You’re able to pig out on a full hog-roast and get all the handcrafted pressies your Christmas obsessed heart desires.

Here’s just some of the delights to look forward to…

Delicious food, from German sausages to sweet mince pies…

And stalls selling cute Christmassy crafts…

The main hub is Albert Square and the festivities run until December 20.

Best bit? It’s a super short flight over from Dublin. Sure you could even go over for a day trip…
