You Can Stay In An Actual Pub Beer Garden In Dingle

James Fenton

Dingle is one of the best staycation destinations in Ireland and if it’s great pubs you’re after, the place is just bursting with them. On any given night, live music can be heard streaming out of each and every one and when the weather is good the beer gardens are heaving.

That said, I bet you never thought you could actually stay in one. Located right in the middle of the main street, John Benny’s pub is one of Dingle’s better-known watering holes. On arrival, it might look like just a regular pub but out the back, it boasts gorgeous little house that’s perfect for a short stay in the town.

On arrival at the pub, you’ll be met by the owners who will guide you down the laneway towards the beer garden before handing over the keys to your holiday home. On the inside, you’ll find enough room for three people to lay their heads as well as a cosy living room and kitchen area.

If you start hearing the chatter of people outside the window, don’t worry as intruders haven’t arrived to take all of your treasured possessions. You’ve merely found yourself living in John Benny’s beer garden. “Won’t it be a bit noisy?”, I hear you ask. Not at all.

With so much to do around Dingle, you’ll find that you’re out and about for most of the day and when the sun goes down, you’ll likely sampling the fine food, drinks and entertainment in John Benny’s or elsewhere. If you do fancy an early night though, you won’t be bothered at all. Regulars will know that noise should be kept to a minimum and from my own experience, tourists maintained a respectful distance as well. On weeknights, the beer garden will be empty by around 11 and on weekends that may stretch to midnight.

The location is of the house is perfect for anyone who wants to sample the atmosphere of John Benny’s and with all the main tourist attractions nearby, you’re never more than a short walk away from your destination. Sure you could nearly wave at Fungie from your window.

If you’re planning a trip to Dingle in the near future, this place comes highly recommended. You can find out more about it here.
