As the doughnut obsession sweeps across Europe (and we ask what the hell took it so long to reach here from the USA?!) the options are getting better by the day.

We thought we’d put together the ultimate list for you to munch your way through.

75% Ecuadorian dark chocolate with notes of caramel, coffee, honey and custard with ganache shavings.

3. Twelve Triangles – Edinburgh 

They have crazy flavours like haggis (no thanks!) but the one to go for is the lemon ricotta. Take a look at this bad boy pictured below…

4. Dum Dums – London And Online 

Stocked in a few locations around London including Harrod’s, so you know they’re good.

5. Solita – Manchester 

Something completely over the top and yet wonderfully alluring. The ice cream sandwich doughnut is a once in a lifetime experience.

6. Nic’s NY Deli And Doughnuts – Glasgow 

The Kinder Bueno appears as their doughnut of the week menu occasionally, and if it does get here as quick as you possibly can.

7. The Blues Kitchen – London 

Couple of locations that focus on BBQ food, but the Oreo-flavoured mini doughnuts are where the real action is at.

8. The Dublin Doughnut Company – Dublin

An amazing little company who supply some of the very best cafes in the capital. Keep an eye on their Facebook page as they expand to see where their doughnuts are stocked.

9. Hellers Kitchen – Edinburgh 

White chocolate and hazelnut is the one to go for here. The rest of the food is so good you’ll need to make sure to leave room for the doughnut!

10. Doughzy Donuts – Belfast

A couple of years old with stockists all across Northern Ireland, as well as popping up on a regular basis with their own stalls around Belfast.

11. Duck And Waffle 

One of the best known restaurants in the UK for their quirky name and unusual dishes. Their spicy ox cheek doughnut with apricot jam, smoked paprika sugar is quite simply off the charts.

12. St John’s – London

Another incredible London restaurant that makes special doughnuts every Tuesday and Thursday. The prune and armagnac ones need to be tried to be believed.

13. Aungier Danger – Dublin 

A recent addition to Dublin’s doughnut scene, and by god are they going down a storm. Only tricky task is getting there before they sell out daily.

14. Bread Ahead – London

These guys teach how to make bread, have a stall in Borough Market and best of all make the most amazing doughnuts.

15. Firehouse Bakery – Wicklow And Various

These guys have been experimenting with some deadly doughnut combinations recently, and have started supplying some of the best known cafes and restaurants around Ireland. Crazy imaginative toppings and flavours like these beauties below.

16. Dungeons And Doughnuts – Galway 

Not only can you come here and play a huge variety of board games, but you can also pick up some unbelievable doughnuts.
