Seafood Lovers Will Adore This Dreamy Wexford Restaurant

Sarah

We’re drooling even just looking at the photos of the food from gorgeous coastal La Côte seafood restaurant which is nestled in right by the waterside in Wexford.

Opened in 2014 by award winning chef Paul Hynes and his partner Edwina, this place has a focus on classic French seafood dishes with a modern Irish twist.

Paul has cooked at Michelin level – and it shows. From locally sourced produce (he’s a fond forager of wild ingredients from the coast) to artfully presented plates, the food here is a delight for all your senses.

Absolutely everything is made in-house, from the delectable sauces to the ice-cream, and the menu changes with the seasons and depending on what fresh fish comes off the boats daily.

Divine starters include a Salmon Gravlax, Pickled Courgette Heart with Salmon Roe, or Pan Seared Scallop and Prawn, Garlic Butter and Herb Crumb. Mmm.

Mains to feast upon are exciting and varied for all tastes (even dedicated carnivores get a look-in here), with dishes like Grilled Lemon Sole, Carrot Puree, Citrus Nage & Orange Gel, or Wild Irish Venison, Butternut Squash, Winter Veg and Cocoa Jus.

A Kilmore Hake plate with Cauliflower, Caper & Raisin has homemade Seaweed Butter that Chef Paul made from locally foraged Slaneyside Sea Spinach.

Ultra mouthwatering stuff.

The scrumptious desserts are a whirlwind of colour, all bright purees and splashes of sweet sauce – you’ll want to leave some room for these beauts.

Treats range from Chocolate Chip Crumpets,Chocolate Textures, Raspberry Sorbet & Walnuts to a Chocolate Fondant, Orange Jelly & Saffron Ice Cream. <3

The Passion Fruit Baked Alaska is also an eternal fave for sweet-tooths.

La Côte constantly receive compliments on their friendly and relaxed vibes, and their Early Bird three course menu (€28.95) is great value for such top quality dishes.

The full three-course Set Menu each evening is €34, and usually includes a grilled Flat Fish of the Day and Round Fish of the Day, plus there’s three specials every evening on the chalkboard which come highly recommended.

Bonus? Coeliac’s have a menu just for them, so no more guessing when it comes to dinner.
