2020: year of the staycation... year of a lot of other things as well but let's not go there.

With all eyes on Ireland, everyone is trying to figure out where best suits their needs in terms of a holiday this year - something that varies from person to person. Some prefer active adventures, some base their getaways completely on food, some want total R&R.

Count yourself in the latter group? There's little more relaxing than a spa day and after getting through the past few months, we reckon it's long overdue. It's been a stressful year for most everyone, navigating the waters of a global pandemic is no easy feat. That to put it lightly.

We've done the groundwork and rounded up some of the best spas around the country (all reopen - bar one), so alls there's left to do is pick one and start planning your trip away.

The Spa at Kilkea Castle - Kildare

Reopen as of July 20th

A luxurious boutique spa, they also have a state of the art thermal suite that gives serious Blue Grotto vibes. The next best thing to a trip to Capri and the Amalfi Coast.

Monart Spa - Wexford

Reopen as of August 3rd

Labelled "one of the best spas in the world" by one of our own, Monart never fails to impress. From the moment you arrive and get a glimpse of the sprawling 100-acre grounds, you know you're in for something special.

Eden One - Dublin

Reopen as of August 2nd

Eden One is a new luxury health club and spa destination. Only open since January of this year, their facilities are second to none. If it’s a bit of R&R you’re after, look no further as this place is relaxation station with heated marble loungers, a dry salt inhalation room and tropical rain showers.

Fota Island Resort - Cork

Reopen as of July 9th

Nestled deep within the gorgeous surrounds of the East Cork countryside, the spa at Fota Island is every bit as picturesque and serene as you could hope for. Complete with a large indoor heated swimming pool, relaxation area and Hydrotherapy Suite with a 'walking river' of water currents. Pure bliss.

The Spa at Druids Glen - Wicklow

Reopen as of June 29th

The ideal spot for a day of pampering, the spa at Druids Glen is perched between the Wicklow Mountains and the Irish Sea. Offering a range of different treatments, combine your visit with a spot of afternoon tea to really make the most of the occasion.

Cara Organic Beauty Spa Lough Eske Castle Hotel - Donegal
