“It Was Once In A Lifetime” – Irish Boy Enjoys Dream Day Meeting His Sporting Heroes

James Fenton

Once again sport proves that dreams really can come true.

You might have seen a viral video a couple of weeks back which showed young Irish Everton fan Ruairc being surprised on his birthday with tickets to go and see his heroes in action against Bournemouth. If you haven’t, you can catch up below…

Well, it seems that the clip reached those at Everton and when Ruairc made the trip over with his dad Tim at the weekend, the club made efforts to make the day even more special than the lads had ever dreamed of.

The 11-year-old from Cork got to meet all of his heroes before the match, including Ireland captain Séamus Coleman, England star Theo Walcott and Brazilian striker Richarlison. As if that wasn’t enough, he even got to go home with Coleman’s boots and managed to have a chat with Toffees manager Marco Silva after they beat their opponents by a score of 2-0.

Ruairc told the Everton website that “It was once in a lifetime – I don’t think I’ll ever get a present like this ever again,” while his dad added that he’ll have memories for “years and years to come.”

The club really left no stone unturned in giving the lads a day to remember and you can see how the day went in full below.
