WATCH: Limerick’s Morrissey Brothers Only Had One Thing On Their Mind During This Interview

James Fenton

It’s the morning after the night before but celebrations are only getting started in Limerick after the Shannonsiders ended 45 years of hurt to clinch the All-Ireland hurling title yesterday.

Despite Galway giving them a mighty scare towards the end, the Treaty County finally got over the line, winning by a score of 3-16 to 2-18.

Central to the victory were the Morrissey brothers, Dan and Tom, with the latter contributing a goal and a point to the success of John Kiely’s men.

Once the dust had settled and the tears of joy had been wiped away, it was straight on to the traditional champions’ banquet at the Red Cow Moran Hotel, and the siblings only had one thing on their mind during this interview with Michael Lyster of RTÉ.

In the clip, which was recorded as the main course was being served, Dan states that he was in a hurry to get back in case team-mate Kyle Hayes munched his salmon. Tom meanwhile, like any Irishman worth his salt, is more concerned about the pint of Guinness waiting for him at the table.

You can be sure more than one was had throughout the night and celebrations will continue with the homecoming tonight and throughout the rest of the week, month and year. And sure who would begrudge them?
